Step 1 - Tips For Defining Your Niche'

First, if you haven't yet done so... you need to define that niche' of your's!

You know your talents.  You know your weaknesses.  You know your strengths.  You know what you're passionate about.  Only YOU know these things.

Just remember... You want to pick a niche' that you'll enjoy working in!  Something you can write about often and intelligently.  Something that you might have "secret" knowledge, special insights, or a strong desire to be a part of.

Here's a few ideas to get your brain waves scramblin'...

And that's just a "teensy-weensy" list of the possibilities you could further target with "laser" precision to come up with your own niche'.

Remember... The more laser focused your target... the less competition and the better your chances of dominating your niche'.  Ching!

Once you have your niche, go to www.godaddy.com or www.networksolutions.com and purchase a domain name.  Try to include one of your keywords in your domain name if possible.  Think of what keyword or "keyword terms" folks would use to locate your website and try to include those keywords in your domain name.  Remember, you can go to www.wordtracker.com to brainstorm variations of your main keywords as well.

Step 2 - Brainstorm - Then Design A "Powerful" Capture Page

If you refer back to Lesson 1, all of the tools you'll need to build your simple website we're provided to you.  All of those tools are free and can be downloaded immediately.

You DO NOT need any products to sell at this point.  Really!  All you truly need is a capture page (homepage) to get started.  Remember, your primary goal at this point is to build your opt in list.  Everything comes after building your list.

• A FREE Report - You should create your report in any text editor but you'll want to convert the report to a PDF file (watch the Videos if you forget how to create a PDF file).  By offering the report as a downloadable PDF, the perceived value to your custom is increased tremendously.
  
  Your report could be on any topic related to your niche but make sure it's packed with VALUE!
  
  The Example From Our Fictitious Site Was:
  
  "A Dozen Roses, A Dozen Love Songs, And Dozens Of Romantic Recipes - - Your "Meal Ticket" To Putting The Romance Back Into Your Life!"
  
  Save your report on your computer so you have it ready to load onto your website once you "go live".  The important thing to remember here is that you have a TOP NOTCH, JAM PACKED, report ready to offer your website visitors!

• A FREE Newsletter Subscription - Your newsletter is your baby!  As I mentioned previously, this one tool will be the driving force behind your entire business - but only if you do things correctly right from the start.
  
  If you setup your autoresponder with www.aweber.com or www.getresponse.com they provide some great templates for you to use for your newsletter.  Just be sure to provide AWESOME content in your newsletter with each and every issue and your autoresponder will handle the design aspect.
  
  You could choose to start by offering your newsletter once a month, and then if you'd like you can increase your delivery rate to a bi-monthly mailing (or even weekly).  That's a choice you'll have to make.
  
  NEVER... NEVER... send your newsletter... JUST TO SEND IT!  You're better off skipping an issue rather than jamming it with useless junk.  Make it ENTERTAINING and VALUABLE!  I cannot stress that enough...
  
  Your first step (and it's a simple one) to have your newsletter ready to go is to simply setup your first message that goes out to every opt in subscriber (immediately) when they opt in to receive your newsletter.
  
  So, the first thing you need to do is write your "Welcome Message"...
  (No, you don't have to have any issues written yet!)
  
  Here's a few things to keep in mind when writing your first autoresponder message. (Remember, this is the first message your customer will receive immediately in their email once they subscribe).  Concentrate on the content. Your autoresponder software will take care of sending it automatically once you've set it up (refer to their help section for instructions).

  • Rule #1 - Be YOURSELF!  Welcome your new subscriber with enthusiasm!  After all... they're lucky to be getting this for FREE!
     
  • Rule #2 - Let them know about any free reports or e-courses you also have available that they can take advantage of.  Cross-promote any of your other opt-in offers).  This way, you can begin to build multiple lists to a more specific audience.  For example, if I was offering a free report to all my newsletter subscribers of Candle Lite Cooking titled "Make Money With Your Recipes", I would now know that this list is also interested in making money from home.  That helps me to further define my market and send only promotions to those lists that I know have the most interest.  Keep everything laser targeted!
     
  • Rule #3 - Provide them with your contact information in case they have any questions.  You may want to offer them a personal email address instead of the customer service email that's for EVERYBODY who visits your site.  They'll feel a little more special... don't you think?
     
  • Rule #4 - Let them know what day of the week or month they will be receiving each issue (and stick to that schedule).  If you tell your subscribers that your newsletter is sent on the 1st of each month - send it on the 1st of each month.
     
  • Rule #5 - Keep the tone of this initial contact relaxed and informal!  (Remember, we're building relationships here).

  Once you have your initial email written in your favorite text editor, save a copy on your computer.  Next, choose a template design from your autoresponder service and insert the text.  (Yes, you can have it ready to go even though your website isn't actually online and accepting new opt ins yet.)  You'll have your template design laid out and your first autoresponder message written.
  
  Get this setup and DONE!  Then, once you do open your site up for "business" your autoresponder will be ready to send out the "Welcome Email" to your new subscribers immediately.  You can work on creating your first issue later.  For now, just get the autoresponder setup and ready to fire!
  
  NOTE:  Setting up your autoresponder and sequential messages is quite easy once you understand the interface of the service provided you choose to use.  www.aweber.com has a great set of help videos that you can watch that will help you tremendously to get everything setup and running on all cylinders.  Don't let this intimidate you.  YOU CAN DO THIS!
  
  Okay, so now you have a report written, and your newsletter setup and ready to fire the "Welcome" message to any new subscriber automatically (without you lifting a finger).  So what's next?
   

• A Free E-Course - This is - by far - my favorite marketing tool for building relationships with my customers.  I'm sure you've subscribed to some type of
  e-course in the past yourself.
  
  The reason this type of marketing promotion is so effective is because your customer has specifically told you that they are interested in the topic and they want you to follow up with them and educate them on the subject.
  
  WOW!  If that's not a gift from the heavens....
  
  So, let's use the example from Candle Lite Cooking and break it down into steps.  Here's the E-course we're offering our visitors when they arrive at our website:
  
  "Do you sometimes feel you need a romance rescue?  My 5 Part
  E-Course Is A Surefire Resource Guaranteed To Impress The Daylights Out Of The One You Love!"
  
  To create this 5 part e-course, what we would need to do is write a detailed report outlining how to keep the "Fire" burning in your relationship.  Make it a KILLER report!  Then, once we have this INFORMATIVE, ENTERTAINING report written, all we need to do is break it down into 5 separate parts and load them into our autoresponder individually.
  
  We would then setup the time intervals for when each lesson would be sent out automatically from our autoresponder to the customer.
  
  For example:

  • Lesson 1 - Sent Immediately
  • Lesson 2 - Sent Two Days Later
  • Lesson 3 - Sent Two Days After Lesson 2
  • Lesson 4 - Sent Three days After Lesson 3
  • Lesson 5 - Sent Three Days After Lesson 4

  It's really that simple.  But, by breaking this down into an e-course, we're now afforded the luxury of being able to set up 5 individual messages that go out to our customer automatically.
  
  And with each lesson, we can:

  • Include some affiliate links that pertain to the content of the lesson and make affiliate commissions on each sale.
  • Include endorsements and offers for our own products and services
  • Further educate our subscriber about our niche' topic (and the more our customer understands the topic - the better you chances of a sale).
  • Continue building our relationship with this customer for future sales opportunities
  • Cross-promote other opt in offers that we have available - build multiple lists!
  • Solicit quality testimonials that will work as "stealth" sellers on our web pages and opt-in offers

  AND... aside from all the benefits we've listed above, we can continue to add content and sales promotions (subtly like we discussed in previous lessons) to the autoresponder series that will be sent out to this customer automatically - without us ever having to lift a finger.
  
  We will now ALSO have the opportunity to "Bulk" email this list periodically with affiliate endorsements and sales of our own products!!!
  
  Bottom line... Get your e-course written and loaded into your autoresponder... ready to fire your BIGGEST guns!  Educate your readers!  Entertain Them!  Show off your amazing personality!
  
  You can always edit the content as you move forward, replace affiliate links with new links, add sales promotions as you begin to create your OWN products, etc.  For now, just write an informative, entertaining e-course (5 part, 7 part, 10 part... that's up to you) and get it locked and loaded into your autoresponder so when you launch your website it's ready to go.
  
  Hint:  Browse the web and sign up for a few e-courses that you see being offered online.  Take note to how they use this powerful tool as a selling weapon.  Copy what you like and add your own style and flair and you'll have a sure-fire winner (as long as the context is VALUABLE).

• Two Or Three Affiliate Offers:  Okay, this step is pretty self-explanatory.  Just like what we talked about in the e-course section, you'll want to do some searching on the web (Clickbank is my favorite) and find some affiliates that are paying a generous commission for sales.
  
  You can then use these affiliates for promotions in your free report (subtly) and also your free e-course. ALWAYS keep it subtle.  You don't want to bombard your readers with offer after offer... BUY THIS!  ... TRY THIS OUT!
  
  That's not the way sales work online.  You need to establish a rapport with your readers and then you'll sell like the dickens.  You could also use these affiliates for promotions in your first newsletter article and for content on your website (editorial reviews of products associated with your niche).
  
  Be smart and simply work on the relationship with your customer.  Make them flutter with anticipation - counting the days on their calendar until they'll here from you again.  Then, when you send out a bulk email to your list and say:

  Hey... what's up!  I just read this book you should check out... or
  I just discovered this cool piece of software you need to try... or
  I just joined this membership club and it rocks!  I got them to give you a special deal...
  
  Your customers are going to VALUE your opinion and "FOLLOW THE LEADER"!  BE THE LEADER!
  
  Moving right along...  So now we have our free report written, a free e-course to offer our opt ins, a free newsletter subscription all setup and ready to welcome folks aboard, and a few affiliate promotions that we could earn a nice commission on... so what's next?
   

• A Strong Signature File:  Again, if you haven't done so yet, you want to start preparing a strong signature file for your emails and your posts at the forums (this is going to generate a ton of highly targeted traffic your way).
  
  Once you have your niche defined, now it's time to visit some forums and take a look at what others are doing.  Pay special attention to their signature files.  Read as many as you possibly could.  Study them and take notice to what ones make YOU want to click through and find out more about what they're offering.
  
  Here's a few things to keep in mind:

  • Write For Curiosity - Don't be boring and just say "get a free e-course here!  Be creative and make readers want to find out what you're offering.  Get them to click through!
     
  • Never try to SELL something directly from your signature file.  Only link to an opt-in offer on your website.  Then, SELL your opt-in offer on your website like mad!
     
  • Pay attention to the forum guidelines and follow them precisely or you could get banned from the forum entirely.

  This will be one of your best traffic generators my friend.  Take your time and create a STUPENDOUS sig file that's generates curiosity and gets people's attention.  But never lose sight of the fact that if your not offering quality, resourceful advice in the forums - first and foremost ... you shouldn't even be there to begin with.
